I was invited by Emma of Miss Bush Bridal to come to the shop on a Saturday to shoot a ‘docu’ style day in the life of Miss Bush. Emma was clear that I could go where I pleased and as long as customers were in agreement shoot what ever I wanted. I have to be honest, I was a little nervous, especially when I found out there was a total of 21 bridal appointments. I had visions of a packed store, lace tulle and organza flying through the air, disagreements over who was trying which dress on first, stressed out brides and harassed staff. Holy mother of the bride!
What I actually witnessed was an efficient appointment system, customers being greeted promptly by courteous and knowledgeable staff (who seemed to know the collections like the back of their hand), and excited and maybe a little apprehensive brides with their friends or mums being gently guided in a calm and orderly atmosphere. All terribly dignified and congenial.
Bridal boutiques are by nature terribly private, heaven help the person who spoils the surprise about the dress and so therefore this was a pretty tricky task! I want to thank the staff for letting me get in their way – constantly, and the lovely brides for letting me photograph them. For those who wish to see their dress photographs do please get in touch for the password to a private gallery.

Just imagine the years of experience and skill in the hands of Miss Bush senior.

Kirsten - I love this post. I’ve never been in a bridal shop before and this makes me want to go in. Gorgeous detail shots too.
fiona kelly photo - Such a brilliant post. So great to see some behind the scenes of the dress buying process, not to mention Miss Bush’s gorgeous shop. Great photos as always Juliet x
Emma Cloggins - Juliet, you are so flipping clever! My heart was in my mouth as I scrolled through these images thinking that there would either be some awful shot of a girl in her pants being poured into a frock or, worse still, a great big image of a girl in her top secret dress. The fact that neither appeared and you still managed to capture the wonder of the Bush emporium is, quite frankly, of the deepest magic to me. Well done and how badly do I want to go wedding dress shopping again after looking at this?!
louise | b.loved - One of the most exciting, stressful and emotional time in a girl’s life! And Miss Bush makes the whole experience so special. Such a beautiful set of images, you really captured the whole experience Juliet! xo
Leah, Golden Apple - Gorgeous photography, and how lovely to have a glimpse inside Miss Bush Bridal – the shop is beautiful!
Emma Meek - Lovely photos Juliet! Tough gig trying NOT to photograph brides – though the secret ones that they asked you to take privately are amazing. Further ammo to my argument thay you have to have a great photographer to capture dress trying on shots – infinitely better than an iPhone!
Thank you for demystifying us whilst preserving our secrets!
Sarah-Jane Morris - What wonderful photos Juliet, really captures the essence. Can’t wait to see the shop now, must pop in next time I am passing. Congratulations.
Leah - aaaaaaahhhhhh!!!! Makes me want to get married again (to the same man of course). Gorgeous. Love the processing of the shots. The mother of the bride shots are priceless. Love, love, love the shop & all the little treasures within!
