I thought I would share some prettiness with you from my daughter Xanthe’s 5th birthday party last Saturday. We went for a classic girlie pink colour scheme complete with the most amazing pink rose and bunting birthday cake, cupcakes, pink sweetie pick and mix and even pink popcorn. In short there was a whole lot of pink going on!
I would love to claim that I made Xanthe’s cake myself, but all the glory must go to my local cake making genius Nina, of Cakes By Nina, based here in Camberley. Her brief was to come up with a totally girlie, pretty pink and white cake. I shared a Pinterest board with her and really loved the idea of graduated colour sponge fillings (degradation cake), which Nina did brilliantly. When I saw the finished result I could have cried, it was absolutely beautiful and would have made an amazing wedding cake, never mind a birthday cake! I can also confirm that it tasted just as good as it looked (we are still enjoying it).
As well as all this sugar, I promise I also served fresh tomato cucumber and mozzarella kebab’s and plenty of fresh Summer fruits. The kids all sat on picnic blankets in the shade at the end of the garden to eat, and despite a bouncy castle and a trampoline, we managed to get away without a single fracture. The Pimms is what I gave myself after the party!![]()
