A Colourful Documentary Grandparent And Family Summer Photography Session<\/h2>\n

Sarah brought a family photography voucher as a gift for her parents (who are now grandparents), and let’s face it, whilst there isn’t much to open when you give present like this, it really is the gift that keeps on giving!<\/p>\n

I’ve known Chris and Sarah a number of years and have already photographed their engagement, wedding day, newborn twins, and now this opportunity to photograph the family with Sarah’s parents and sister too.\u00a0 I’m fast becoming their photographer for all seasons! Well, all generations.<\/p>\n

Apart from knowing I will deliver on the photography front, I think this really demonstrates the benefits of having a good relationship with the person you ask to document the most important times in your life. You have to feel comfortable with your photographer, and with booking the same photographer time and time again, each session just fits, like putting on an old jacket (well less of the old!). \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

Obviously these are uncertain times (August 2020), and it’s only very recently that the relaxing of the lockdown rules have allowed for safe, outdoor (and socially distanced) photography sessions to take place. Ever mindful of ensuring these sessions are safe for all involved, relaxed, and stress free, I now ensure I come complete with hand sanitiser and mask, and that all involved (myself included), are fit and well. It also goes without saying that I am always happy to reschedule if anyone is unwell, or the weather is not behaving itself!<\/p>\n

I think this whole Covid-19 situation has reinforced how important family is to all of us. With many having been unable to just simply pop in to see their loved ones, and feeling cut off and missing each other, there has never been a better time to arrange that family shoot you always meant to do. I’m sure these photos will bring so much joy not just to those involved, but great grandparents, cousins, friends, and so many more.<\/p>\n

I love the documentary style of the photographs. They give a far richer ‘snap shot’ into life at grandparents Anne and Paul’s house on a sunny Saturday in August, then any posed studio photographs could ever do. Nothing is forced. It’s all as it happened (including some crackers that show what amazing grandparents Anne and Paul are). There is so much love and joy here. They really do warm the heart! This is real family life, and this is most definitely what real 4 year old twins are like!<\/p>\n

I have such happy memories of playing in my grandparents garden from a young age, but I don’t have photos like this. I hope the boys look back at these photographs when they are all grownup, and feel the happiness they radiate. I also hope everyone appreciates the fact they didn’t have to be the one to take the photographs, but were able to be in them too. How many of us are the designated family photographer, rarely actually appearing in the photographs ourselves?<\/p>\n
