A Gorgeous Countryside Wedding In Salisbury And Afterwards At Ashley Wood Farm
Yesterday I headed down to Salisbury in Wiltshire to document Liz and Trevor’s wedding at St John’s Place and afterwards at Ashley Wood Farm in Tisbury.
This was a relaxed and totally family orientated wedding day and I’m so delighted the sun came out for Liz and Trevor (it’s raining hard today). The couple have a young daughter Sophia, as well as friends with young children, and it just made the day extra special being able to be outside and enjoy the surroundings. The John’s Place is very special to Liz. Her grandfather was the vicar, and she attended Sunday school there as a child, so it was important that she should marry Trevor there. Following the ceremony they enjoyed a confetti line, and after some group shots were whisked away in bright red vintage Austin convertible.
It was my first time at Ashley Wood Farm. Many of my wedding photographer friends love the venue so I knew I was in for a treat. It’s really so pretty and an absolute blank canvas for couples to decorate as they choose. Liz, Trevor and their families had been able to prepare the venue from the night before, and the combined effort really did pay off. Everything looked wonderful. I particularly loved the low key DIY flowers, and the beautiful napkins made from fabric purchased by LIz. As well as being extremely pretty, the surrounding land offers endless possibilities for beautiful couples portraits, and it was a joy to be there. As a crazy chicken lady, I particularly enjoyed the small talk with the farm’s resident chickens! 🙂
Later after the wedding breakfast from Vaughan’s Kitchen, I took the couple off for some ‘golden hour’ portraits both in the yard, and down the valley to the fishing lake. Later guests were treated to crepes from Le Cafe Creme creperie, before live music and dance.
Liz, Trevor, and Sophia, it was a pleasure to be there to document your special day and I really hope you enjoy this selection of preview images. J x
Ashley Wood Farm
After the wedding ceremony, the couple and their guests drove for 30 minutes onto the splendid setting of Ashley Wood Farm for a relaxed country barn reception.
I love photographing kids at weddings, but when the bridesmaid bring their babies to the ‘formal’ (informal) photos, I love it even more!
What a wonderful backdrop for a group shot of everyone who attended the day. I couldn’t think of a more perfect position to capture everyone as well as the fabulous surroundings of the farm.
I love how Liz and Trevor, with the help of friends and family, had decorated the barn with real rustic elegance. In particular the unpretentious wild flowers, the ‘apple variety’ table names, the hand made fabric napkins in all sorts of pretty fabrics, and the platters of food prepared and served by Vaughan’s Kitchen. It was simply perfect.
