A Fun And Colourful Wedding At Downing College Cambridge
Yesterday I had the absolute pleasure of documenting Katherine and Ajay’s wedding at Downing College Cambridge.
The Venue
The College campus, in the heart of Cambridge city centre, is made up of a series of beautiful neoclassical buildings, linked by gravel pathways, green open spaces, and pretty gardens . It’s very grand and yet peaceful, and holds many memories for Katherine and Ajay, who met at the University whilst studying law.
I started cover by capturing some last minute bridal preparations with Katherine and her bridesmaids, before moving onto the ceremony in the Howard building. Later the couple and their guests enjoyed canapes and Champagne on the college lawns. The sun came out and the setting was perfect for some family photos and lovely bride and groom portraits.
This was such a fun wedding to capture. Katherine and Ajay are super clever, a little bit quirky, and heaps of fun. The couple had commissioned 2 6ft animals to be made by a theatrical set builder; a sloth, and a pink mink! As wedding favours, guests were given jungle animal lego kits, served cocktails, and music was provided by a fabulous band (who Ajay happens to play with).
I must just give a shout out to Downing College function staff. They treated me so well, and kept me fed and watered for my 10 hours of cover. Thank you so much!
Katherine and Ajay, it was a fabulous day. Thanks so much for asking me to document it for you. Here is your wedding preview. Happy travels! J x
