A Sunny Walled Garden Wedding At Wadhurst Castle

A Beautiful Sunny September Wedding In The Walled Garden At Wadhurst Castle

I’m pretty sure when Veronica and Robin chose the 9th September for their wedding, they had no idea it would turn out to be such a freakishly warm day. I say warm, it was hot (the hottest day of the year). However, with their planned  outdoor wedding ceremony in the walled garden at Wadhurst Castle, things could not have been more perfect.

This was my second wedding at Wadhurst Castle, and having loved being there before, I was so excited to return to capture another stunning day. I chatted with Robin and Veronica ahead of their big day so that I knew what was most important to them about their photography. Of course choosing such a stunning setting, I knew capturing the setting would be a high priority, but Robin and Veronica were fantastic to photograph. So laid back, and the results speak for themselves.

I began coverage a little early to allow extra time to walk the castle and grounds to document some images of the setting, before joining Veronica and her bridesmaid and flowergirl towards the end of bridal prep. The room has amazing views over the landscape and great light for portraits. I particularly love those I took of the ladies.

It was lovely to bump into Zuzanna from Fig & Flower who created the most spectacular delicate pastel bouquets, as well as arrangements for both the ceremony in the walled garden, and reception in the drawing room. The colours worked so well with the powdery pale blue walls, as well as the wider landscape and perennials in the castle gardens.

Guests assembled for the ceremony, along with Robin and his best man eagerly awaiting the arrival of the bride. Veronica and her bridal party made a very picturesque entrance through an archway in the garden wall, and there followed a beautiful ceremony with added heartfelt readings from their very good friends.

After the ceremony there was rose petal confetti, before blessed cooling drinks on the castle lawn, and delicious canapes provided by caterers Gastro Catering who also provided a fun Champagne tower later in the evening.

I think it’s so important for a couple to have enough time to chat with their guests and to enjoy the hospitality they have spent so much time and effort organising, and Veronica nd Robin’s schedule allowed for this before group photos and then relaxed bride and groom portraits.

There followed the wedding breakfast and speeches, then more time to mingle and chat, drink Champagne, cake cutting, and then dancing. It truly was a magical day which I thoroughly enjoyed documenting, as well as editing and delivering to this lovely couple.

Veronica and Robin, thank you so much for having me along. Jx
