A Sweet September Family Photography Session At
London’s Coal Drops Yard
I’m delighted to share some favourite moments from a recent family photo shoot in London at Coal Drops Yard.
One of the best things about photographing families is when regular clients come back year after year. I really get to know the parents, and their children’s personalities as they grow. There’s a trust that develops as well as a familiarity. Plus knowing I have created a catalogue of beautiful images for them from the early newborn days onwards, is immensely satisfying. As a mum myself I know how precious family photographs are, especially when you actually get to be in them (and are not always the one taking them!).
I’ve been photographing this particular family since their little boy was a newborn, and I really look forward to catching up with them each year. It doesn’t take long for our session to get into a lovely and relaxed rhythm, and I’m able to get a range of images displaying not just happy faces, but real little moments.
I’ve photographed the family at their home and at Kew, but this time they fancied something a little different. They suggested Coal Drops Yard, a beautifully developed area located behind Kings Cross station, and it provided so many picturesque and fun locations which meant no time for little one’s to get bored!
