A Sweet Newborn Photo shoot With A Previous Bride & Groom
This morning I met up with Jenny John and Baby Tabitha for a newborn photography session.
Having photographed the couple’s engagement and wedding, it was a real privilege and joy to be invited back to meet Tabitha, their beautiful 2 week old little girl. She was such a relaxed and chilled out baby, but that’s hardly a surprise, she takes after her mummy and daddy! We began by having a catch up over a cup of tea.
I always think this is so important, especially with newborn photography. As an ex-midwife I am always interested to hear about a couple’s birth experience, and it’s important for me to know how they are feeling. For example, if they’ve had a particularly taxing night I don’t want to outstay my welcome. Or perhaps if mum has had a caesarean I don’t want her to be uncomfortable whilst being photographed by asking her to sit or lie in a certain way.
In general I like to keep things relaxed and very informal. I’m not overly keen on posed shots either, so I’m very much led by what the parents want to do and what their baby requires. I believe very much that these ‘real’ images are the one’s that will bring back so many memories of this precious time in years to come.
Jenny John and Tabitha, I am so glad you all came to be together. What a perfect little family you make. J x
